Hyderabad, January 20:

A 20-year-old girl, who was affected with polio, committed suicide by setting herself ablaze.

According to Narsingi police, the victim, S Saritha, took the extreme step at her residence in Shankarpally of Ranga Reddy district on Monday night. She was immediately rushed to the Osmania General Hospital where she succumbed a few hours after admission. Preliminary enquiries by the police revealed that Saritha was affected with polio and her father Ramulu's attempts to get her treated proved futile. She was reportedly depressed due to the failure of treatment and the same is suspected to have driven her to suicide. (INN)
