Purpose The purpose of Suicide Helpdesk is: to Provide Information, listen, understand, provide help, guidance, on issues related to suicide, suicidal tendencies and its prevention through:phone, email.letter or chat. The aim of the service is to ensure that the caller’s needs and best interests are of paramount importance. Provide free and confidential service, with empathy, unconditional acceptance and with the added advantage of not having to reveal identity. Prospective caller for whom this service is intended: - Persons with active thoughts of suicide or of not wanting to live.
- Persons whose thoughts have proceeded to active planning for suicide. Persons with a history of prior suicidal behavior.
- Persons affected by others’ suicidal behavior or a death by suicide.
- Feeling depressed, lonely and desperate, hopeless, helpless, worthless, guilty, in crisis, any family / relationship / or personal problems / low Self Esteem.
- People with general concerns or questions about suicide.
- Relatives and friends, young and old, wanting to help a family member or needing support themselves.
- Suicide helpdesk is a suicide prevention helpline that provides free and confidential---emotional support, guidance and counseling by professionally trained counselor for people who are in emotional/psychological crisis.
